Clay Hand Building 101
An introduction to clay as a design and art medium with emphasis on hand forming techniques such as pinching, coiling, soft and hard slab construction. Surface decorating techniques will include inherent and applied texture, inlay and glazes. Students will be able to build vessels/sculptures of their own desire and explore glazes and different building techniques.  

Watercolour Class Monday

This course advocates the use of watercolour as a transparent medium. By following basic principles of composition, colour theory and form while developing student skill level. The subject matter is varied. We begin with photo reference given e.g. landscapes, still life subjects for each class. Students will be encouraged to find their personal creativity while learning how to paint water reflection, skies, buildings and people. Background to foreground composition with “Thick over Thin” and drybrush techniques.

Acrylic /Oil Painting Class

Wednesday Morning 9 to 12 PM
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Afternoon’s 1 to 4 PM

This three-hour painting class allows you to select from any six weekly classes to take this fun course. Only 8 students per class, taught through hands-on classroom exercises with emphasis on acrylic and/or oil painting techniques. Painting design and colour theory will be taught. Each student paints from references of interest with step by step instruction. Portrait, Landscape, Still Life and Abstract reference is supplied, or student can bring personal painting reference to class depending on skill level. Materials are supplied, canvas, paint and brushes so just come ready to paint and have a fun rewarding creative time. The Class Passes are good for two years so you can come and go as you please, just call to book your space.

Life Drawing in November/December

Tuesday afternoon 1 to 4 PM
Tuesday night 6 to 9 PM
Host Nonie French $25 per class

The class will start with quick 5-minute gesture poses and will lead up to 20 minute and longer poses. Students bring their own drawing materials such as a large newsprint pad 18” X 24”and compressed charcoal sticks and drawing board for example. The models will pose in costume and nude. This studio class with an approach to drawing through the study of the figure, with emphasis on drawing form, composition, proportion, mass and tone. The class is mostly a non-instruction class, but Nonie will help those who ask.

November to December

Clay Class 102 “Creating Bowls & Coffee Mugs”

Tuesday & Thursday afternoon
5 Class pass $250. Plus, Clay and Tax

Students will explore the many fun ways to hand build with clay. Soft and hard slab, pinching and coil techniques. The potter’s wheel will be introduced in the second class. The students will experience throwing on a wheel and the basic techniques of centering, pulling, shaping, and trimming. Glazing and under glazing will be taught as well. Students could produce up to six clay vessels or more!
